PITTSBURGH -
Opening Statement:
"It was good to get back out here today after the scrimmage. It was obvious that we had a lot of things in all areas to get cleaned up and make corrections. I was pleased with how our players responded."
On the remainder of camp:
"As I told the players, counting today we have five camp practices left. We have tomorrow, one on Saturday and one Sunday. We will officially break camp on Saturday. We'll let the kids move into their dorm rooms and apartments that day, so that will be the official break of camp. We'll squeeze one more practice in on Sunday before we begin our Utah work."
On the offensive line:
"I think that they have made progress. All of them have improved. We are still not at the point where we can say that this is our starting offensive line. I think with four more practices of training camp, and the battles being as competitive as they are, I think we owe it to those other kids to just keep competing."
On Tino Sunseri's last play of practice:
"It was the last play, and he threw an interception. We didn't want to give up a sack. Obviously you can never throw an interception in the red zone when it's the last play in the game. Take a shot, try to score, try and do what you have to do. Dom DeCicco made a nice play there, and Tino (Sunseri) will learn from it. That's the great thing; he's learning everyday he comes out here. That's all part of this maturing process."
On Fernando Diaz:
"He has been excused for personal reasons. He's home. We don't know when he will be back."
On Greg Romeus and Ray Graham:
"They're both doing much better. They are both conditioning and training. I think Greg Romeus is obviously a lot farther ahead right now, and ready to get back at it. I would expect to see him in the next day or two, back at everything.
"We'll get into our Utah week, next week and take it day-to-day with Ray Graham."
On Dion Lewis:
"We limited him in the scrimmage a little bit, in the live work, but he's getting his reps in with the non-contact drills. He has to stay sharp. He started off very fast and where we wanted him, we just have to make sure we don't lose our edge."
On Jason Douglas:
"Jason Douglas is a guy from the scrimmage that you would say some positive things about on offense. Jason Douglas is making progress, Brock DeCicco is making some progress. Those two guys really standout.
"If we lined up and played tomorrow, Jason Douglas would be second behind Dion. He is ahead of Chris Burns. Chris (Burns) is doing a good job. We're giving them both equal opportunities and we're going to need them both. Right now, Jason (Douglas) is probably playing at a slightly higher level."
