Pitt Earns No. 24 Spot in College Football Playoff Initial Rankings

PITTSBURGH — Pitt Football has earned a spot in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the season, debuting at No. 24.
The Panthers are coming off a 35–20 win at Stanford, improving to 7–2 overall and 5–1 in ACC play.
Currently in their second and final bye week, the Panthers have won five straight games. During that stretch, Pitt leads the nation with 200 points scored, ranks second nationally with 2,229 total yards, and has totaled 24 touchdowns.
Defensively, Pitt stands fourth in the ACC in total defense, sixth nationally in rushing defense, and fifth in the country in tackles for loss.
Following the bye, the Panthers will begin a three-game regular-season finish by hosting No. 10 Notre Dame on Nov. 15 at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon and the game will be televised nationally on ABC or ESPN, the ACC announced Monday.
