PITTSBURGH -
Four Pitt gymnasts earned invitations to NCAA Regional meet following their performances at the EAGL Championships on March 27. Competition is set to begin this Saturday, April 10 in State College, Pa.
Meaghan Biros, Dani Bryan, Jen Liberato and Alicia Talucci are the four athletes who will be making the trip to Penn State this weekend. Senior Dani Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and sophomore Alicia Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) turned in the top finishes at the EAGL Championships, tying for fourth place on the vault. Bryan also competed on the bars and floor, finishing the meet with a team-best on both events. Talucci garnered a fifth place finish in the all-around competition with a score of 39.200.
Bryan and Talucci will be making appearances on the vault and all-around, respectively, this weekend. The meet will mark Bryan’s second NCAA Regional appearance for Pitt on the vault. Talucci, who was named to the 2010 EAGL First Team in three events this year, will also be making her second appearance at NCAA Regionals.
Freshman Meaghan Biros (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) and junior Jen Liberato (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) will join Talucci and Bryan at this weekend’s meet. Biros will compete in the all-around competition and Liberato will compete on the uneven bars. Both Biros and Liberato are making their first appearances as Pitt Panthers at NCAA Regionals.
The top two teams and top two all-around competitors who are not on an advancing team will receive an invite to the national championships in Gainesville, Fla. The championships will be hosted by the University of Florida April 22-24.
