PITTSBURGH - Pitt will have four representatives at the NCAA Regional Gymnastics Championship on the campus of Penn State on Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m.
Freshman Meaghan Biros, senior Dani Bryan, junior Jen Liberato and sophomore Alicia Talucci will be competing as individuals at the regional.
Biros (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) and Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) have qualified for the all-around, while Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) will compete on vault and Liberato (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) has qualified for the uneven bars.
The 2010 NCAA Regional will mark the second appearance for Bryan and Talucci, while Biros and Liberato will attend their first-ever championship.
Teams comprising the lineup at the regional will be LSU, Maryland, host Penn State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and New Hampshire.
At last weekend's EAGL Championship, the all-tournament team was set with Pitt placing three on the vault first team - Bryan, Biros and Talucci and Shannon Vafiadou earning a spot on the second team.
Pitt as a team concluded the season ranked first in the vault in the EAGL and No. 19 in the nation.
On the uneven bars, Bryan earned a spot on the second team and on the beam Talucci scored high enough for first team honors. Junior Molly Moyer (Telford, Pa./Buxmont Christian) stepped up her performance on the beam to earn second team recognition on the beam.
On the floor exercise, Bryan and Talucci again earned EAGL All-Tournament second team honors. And, in the all-around, Talucci received first team honors, while Biros took second team.
