PITTSBURGH - The Pitt gymnastics team suffered a loss at No. 7-ranked Arkansas Friday night, 196.875-192.525.
The Panthers had another solid night from freshman Meaghan Biros (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) as she scored a 38.875 in the all-around competition. Biros hit all four routines including a career-high 9.875 on the vault, a 9.700 on the bars, 9.600 on the beam and a 9.700 on the floor.
Senior Dani Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) led the Panthers on her specialty, the vault, earning a 9.875. On the bars, Pitt was paced by junior Jen Liberato (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley), who scored a team-high 9.750. Molly Moyer (Telford, Pa./Buxmont Christian) led the Panthers with a 9.750 on the beam and on the floor, Liberato again led the way with a 9.725.
Sophomore Alicia Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) finished with a 38.375 on the night. Talucci scored a 9.825 on the vault, a 9.725 on the bars, a 9.225 on the beam and a 9.600 on the floor to round out the night's action.
Pitt again scored high on the vault, which was their strongest event. The Panthers scored a 49.075, which tied the team's high score this season. Pitt was ranked 21st in the nation on the vault entering the Arkansas meet and the 49.075 should improve that standing.
The Panthers will conclude the regular season at Michigan State Saturday, March 20 at 6 p.m. Pitt will then travel to New Hampshire for the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships, March 27 at 2 p.m.
