Women's Volleyball Hosts Two This Weekend

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team hosts two Big East opponent in its regular-season finale at Fitzgerald Field House. First, the Panthers face Connecticut on Saturday, Nov. 13. The following day, Pitt will honor its seniors prior to the first serve against St. John's on Sunday, Nov. 14. Both matches begin at 2 p.m.
The Panthers (11-17, 5-7 Big East) enter the weekend coming off a loss to No. 21 Cincinnati. In that contest, senior Imani Harper scored 12 kills and classmate Allyson Hodnik recorded 28 assists and eight digs. Harper leads the team with 85 blocks on the season. Trailing slightly, junior Kiesha Leggs has 67 stuffs on the year, including 10 solo blocks.
Senior Amy Town leads the offensive attack with 1,068 swings. Her 3.68 kill per set average ranks fourth in the Big East. On the other side, sophomore Margy Acton leads the Panthers' passing game with 414 digs to-date.
Connecticut (5-18, 3-9 Big East) is coming off a straight-set victory over South Florida. In last season's Pitt-UConn matchup, the Panthers blanked the Huskies, 3-0. Harper tallied five blocks in the contest, while Town had 11 kills.
St. John's (17-11, 5-7 Big East) plays West Virginia on Friday, but enters the weekend on a three-match win streak. A year ago, the Panthers earned a shutout over the Red Storm. Senior Rachel Kalberer and Hodnik recorded then-career-highs in blocks.
