PITTSBURGH — University of Pittsburgh freshman gymnast Alicia Talucci has been honored as the East Atlantic Gymnasts League Rookie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 16.
The award marks the second time in four weeks Talucci has been honored by the Eastern Atlantic Gymnastics League as the Rookie of the Week.
Against EAGL rival Maryland on Feb. 13, Talucci set career-high marks on vault and floor and tied a career-high on beam. On vault, she was the third Pitt gymnast to register a 9.9+ this season, taking first place along the way and claiming Pitt’s fifth-best score in school history. She tied her career-best 9.825 on beam, her second first place finish of the meet. On floor, she finished second with a 9.800, a career-high score.
Competing in the all-around for just the second time this year, she totaled a 39.050, the highest all-around score this season for the Panthers.
Pitt takes a break from EAGL action this week as they host Michigan State Friday, Feb. 20. Meet time is slated for a 7 p.m. start inside Fitzgerald Field House.
