Panthers Host Terps for Think Pink Meet

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team will host EAGL foe Maryland on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House for their annual Think Pink meet. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the fight against breast cancer.
After an outstanding all-around performance from freshman Alicia Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), leading the Panthers to their second EAGL win of the season against Rutgers and Yale, Pitt returns home for three straight weeks.
The Panthers (5-3, 2-2 EAGL) cruised to victory this past weekend, taking top honors in three of the four events, including vault and beam, where they earned the top three and four places respectively.
Talucci competed in her first all-around in her career, finishing with a score of 38.650 to take first place. Additionally, she set a career-high 9.550 score on the bars.
Senior co-captain Alix Croop (Allentown, Pa./Bridgeway Academy) placed first on both the uneven bars and the beam, earning the EAGL Specialist of the Week for the period ending Feb. 9. This marks the first time in her career that she has been honored by the league.
Maryland's gymnastics team is coming off of a third place finish at the 14th annual Governor's Cup, earning their best overall score in the meet since 2004. Fueled by eight top-10 performances, the Terps defeated EAGL foe New Hampshire and in state rival Towson.
Claiming their best team score of the season on the floor (48.825) juniors Talia Tossone and Michele Brenner tied for fifth, while Brandi George took ninth.
Friday will mark the 33rd installment of the match-up, with Pitt leading the series 17-16.
