“Match My Intensity” says it all for Pitt Gymnastics 2010. We have 17 gymnasts with one common goal: EAGL champs. As preseason nears its end, I think we are very capable of reaching that goal. We have great things going on in and out of the gym!
The freshmen are doing awesome! Alyssa, Meaghan, Laura, and Mic have been a great addition to our team. Alyssa has a beautiful bar routine with a huge dismount. Meg is recovering from an ankle sprain but is itching to start training her 1 ½ vault again. Laura is also recovering from a sprain but is putting a full bar routine together with a release I can stand underneath! Mic is working on putting her tumbling on the floor and is always a source of a good laugh.
The rest of team is just bursting with new and exciting things!
On floor Monday we had seven full solo floor routines on the competition floor and made every single one! Terry was so excited that she was cheering and running around the gym! Dani, Shan, Krista, Meg, Jen, and I (Vaf) have new floor routines, which are sure to please the crowd and the judges. Dani is almost ready with upgrading her first pass to a full-in. Meg is so powerful that all her tumbling is huge which looks great with her new routine. Jen is busting a move with a fun new floor routine, and is super excited to perform it for the Pitt home crowd. I am really pumped about my new routine, I am sure the crowd will get a kick out it. I’ve upgraded all my passes and can’t wait for season to get started!
The beam squad is looking solid this year and has proved it during numerous intrasquads already. Alicia’s routine is jam packed with just about every skill in the book. She never fails to make it all look effortless. Molly, one of our most consistent beam workers, is looking great and nailing routines each day. Lisa is now working beam and whipped out back handspring layout the other day that will surely make her a contender for line-up. Jessie, Dani, Alyssa, and I are all hitting routines each day no matter what fun assignment Debbie throws at us.
Bars has a bunch of new faces swinging around. Alyssa, Meg, and Laura are all great bar workers, and will definitely contribute greatly to our depth on this event. Kelsey is looking like a pro on bars after elbow surgery. She is doing almost full routines with a gorgeous pac and big release. Dani, and Jessi all upgraded their dismounts. Dani is doing a full in and is almost ready to put it in. Jess is doing full routines with a double layout to punctuate the ending, while Alyssa has a full-in at the end of her bars. Jen is one of the most consistent routines we have and will be sure to be a great contribution. Molly has the joined the chalk box, competing in the past few intrasquads. Lisa is also working great bars with a new mount and release combination.
Vault is looking PHENOMINAL! Terry has made a huge difference and the vault squad is unbelievable! Dani, Shan, Krista, Molly, Mallory, Jen, Me, Alicia, Meg, Laura, Alyssa, and Mic are all training vault with almost everyone competing a 10 vault or training one. Even more exciting is more than half the vault squad is working an upgrade! In the intrasquads the vault squad has proved to be yet again a “wam bam” powerhouse.
Pitt gymnastics is looking better than ever and everyone is beyond excited to show off all the work we’ve been doing in the gym! Watch out because the Panthers are on the prowl and we’re ready to go!!!
Hail to Pitt!
