Women's Volleyball Falls To Pepperdine, 3-0

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.--In it's second match of the doubleheader this afternoon, Pitt's women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to Pepperdine in the Arkansas Clarion Inn Invitational at Barnhill Arena. The Waves took the win with scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-20.
Senior Diana Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) led the Panthers with 14 kills and added eights digs. Also in double digits in the kill column were sophomore Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) and junior Kelly Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Pacific) with 14 and 11, respectively.
Pitt (0-2) was out-hit in the contest, as Pepperdine (1-0) turned in a .431 hitting percentage and the Panthers recorded a .245 clip.
As in the first game of the day, the Panthers played well in the second game of the match. Boasting a .324 hitting clip with 16 kills as a team, Pitt was led by Dooley in game two with six kills.
Freshman Emily Burke (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) recorded another game-high in assists with 42, while sophomore Michelle Rossi (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) recorded a game-high 12 digs and two aces in the contest.
Pitt meets host Arkansas at 1 p.m. on Saturday, in its final match of the tournament. The Panthers are 0-1 in their series against the Lady Backs. Live stats and live audio are available at www.ladybacks.com for the match-up.
