
THREE PITT GYMNASTS NAMED TO ALL-EAGL TEAM

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Three Pitt gymnasts were named to the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) all-conference team. Senior Andrea Arlotta was named a first team All-EAGL selection on three events and in the all-around. Also named to the All-EAGL team were freshman Dani Bryan and junior Samantha DeBone.
Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) earned first team honors in the all-around for the third consecutive season. She was also named a first team selection on the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. Prior to this year, Arlotta had six first team honors and four second team honors. She was a three-time EAGL Gymnast of the Week this season and also won Specialist of the Week once. Arlotta won five uneven bars and five floor exercise titles as well. One of Pitt's most successful gymnasts, Arlotta could close out her senior year having scored the most points in school history.
Bryan (Germantown, Md./Northwest) received All-EAGL first team honors on the vault and second team honors on the floor exercise. Won the vault competition three times this season and earned EAGL Specialist of the Week on March 6. She additionally won the floor exercise once this season. Bryan ranks third in the league with a regional-qualifying score (RQS) of 9.855 on the vault. She earned a career-high 9.925 in Pitt's meet against Missouri and Central Michigan. Bryan also recorded a career-high 9.850 on the floor exercise in the last meet of the season.
DeBone (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) was named a first team selection on the balance beam, making this her fourth All-EAGL honor in three years. This is the first time, though, she's been named to the first team. DeBone picked up second team honors on the balance beam in 2005 and on the uneven bars in 2005 and 2006. She won two balance beam titles this season and matched her career high of 9.900 against Missouri and Central Michigan. DeBone has an RQS of 9.775 on this event and has scored above a 9.800 in three competitions this season.
West Virginia's Janae Cox was named Gymnast of the Year and Senior Gymnast of the Year. Maryland's Gretchen Kittelberger was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Brandi George, also of Maryland, was named Rookie of the Year.
