PITT VOLLEYBALL REMAINS UNDEFEATED WITH A WIN OVER RHODE ISLAND

KINGSTON, R.I. - Pitt extended its win streak to five this evening with another victory at the Rhode Island Invitational. The Panthers defeated the host team, 3-0, holding the Rams to no more than 24 points. Pitt's outside hitters Diana Andreyko and Stephanie Ross are playing a big role in the Panthers' success this weekend while freshman Meagan Dooley and Jessica Moses provided a strong defense in tonight's match.
Andreyko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded another double-double the and her second of the tournament with 13 kills and 14 digs. She improved to a .345 hitting percentage in this match and now averages 4.29 kills per game. Ross (Dayton, Ohio/Chaminade-Julienne) finished with 12 kills and a .258 hitting percentage. She additionally had seven digs and two blocks.
The Panthers finished with 15 total team blocks to Rhode Island's four. Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) set new career highs with eight block assists and nine total blocks. Moses (North Olmstead, Ohio/Lutheran West) recorded six blocks during the match. She leads the Panthers with 36 blocks this season.
The Panthers held the Rams to less than 25 points in every game. In the first game, Pitt won, 30-24. They took the second game, 30-23, and in the final game won, 30-24. Tomorrow they'll wrap up the tournament with a noon match against Northeastern.
NOTES - Redshirt freshman Melissa Stadelman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Carrick) set new career highs in solo blocks (one), block assists (one) and total blocks (two). Freshman libero Michelle Rossi (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) recorded 17 digs in tonight's match.
