PITTSBURGH - The Pitt Panthers (10-6, 3-4 EAGL) are ready to defend their home turf and remain undefeated at the Field House this season when they take on the West Virginia Mountaineers and James Madison Dukes. The tri-meet is scheduled for 6 p.m.
"We just had a great meet against West Virginia. I think they bring out the best competitors in us!" said Head Coach Debbie Yohman. "We want to have another great one here at home and build on the job we did at North Carolina."
Coming off a meet with a season-high team score of 193.500 and a season-high bar score of 48.775, Pitt's Andrea Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) finished second in the all-around at the Tar Heel Invitational last weekend and set a season-high score of 9.825 on the uneven bars for first place. Pitt senior April Pearson (Jacksonville, Fla./Wolfson) hit both of her routines at North Carolina for a season-high score of 9.775 on the vault and a career-high 9.800, tying for second on the uneven bars. Sophomore Nicole Drane (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) set a career-high 38.100 in the all-around. The tri-meet marks the fourth all-around competition for Drane.
Tonight's meet is the second of three consecutive meets between the Panthers and Mountaineers. West Virginia is leading with one win from last weekend's invitational.
