Leila Tait Finishes Pitt Career at NCAA Gymnastics Championships

AUBURN, Ala.?Senior Leila Tait ended her collegiate career on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, held at Auburn University, with a 24th-place finish on the balance beam.
Tait (Naples, Fla./Pittsford Sutherland [N.Y.]) qualified for the NCAA Championships with a balance beam title at the NCAA Northeast Regional held two weeks ago at the University of New Hampshire. Her score of 9.7 points on Thursday afternoon tied her for 24th among those competing in the first of two sessions.
Her finish was the third highest among the five routines performed by gymnasts from the East Atlantic Gymnastics League. Tait was the first NCAA qualifier for Pitt since former Panther Samantha Salyers in 1997.
