Pittsburgh Gymnastics Struggles at Quad Meet

TOWSON-The Pittsburgh gymnastics team falls to last place in a quad meet on Saturday evening at Towson University. The Panthers had an all-around team score of 191.225, placing third was Rutgers, scoring 192.7 points, in second place was Maryland, scoring 192.85 points and winning the meet was Towson University with the team score of 193.475.
Andrea Arlotta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Northwest) led the Panthers in the all-around competition with 38.875 points, where she took first place. Arlotta also placed on three events in the competition. On the floor exercise she tied for second place, receiving a 9.85 from the judges. Arlotta also took third place on the uneven bars, scoring 9.775 points and on the vault scoring 9.825 points.
Also competing in the all-around were Panthers Kaitlin Harrison (Manchester, N.H./Manchester Memorial), placing fifth, and Robyn Marszalek (Orland Park, Carl Sandburg), placing fourth. Marszalek finished with 38.275 points, her career-best all-around score since competing collegiately., she also tied for fifth place on the floor exercise, scoring a 9.75. Harrison also scored a career-best score on the vault during the competition receiving a 9.475 from the judges.
The Panthers will be competing at Florida on Friday, March 18. The meet will begin at 7 p.m.
