The Panthers (30-12) return to action this weekend with a three-game series at Big East foe Seton Hall.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. ? Pittsburgh?s baseball team eclipsed the 30-win mark for the third straight year after defeating Niagara, 16-7, on Wednesday night. The Panthers improved to 30-12 overall while the Purple Eagles dropped to 18-21.
Pittsburgh came out on fire by scoring seven runs in the top of the first inning. Peter Parise and Ben Copeland each had two-run singles in the frame to lead the way as the Panthers scored the seven markers on just four hits.
After Niagara cut the lead to 7-2 in the second inning, Pittsburgh scored three more runs in the fourth inning as Bryan Spamer, Tom Cashman and Jim Negrych each collected RBIs in the frame.
The Purple Eagles responded and trimmed the lead to 10-6 in the fourth inning, but the Panthers scored six runs over the span of the sixth through eighth innings to take control of the game and capture the victory.
Paul Nardozzi (5-3) picked up the win in relief, working three innings of no-hit ball while striking out three batters and walking three.
Copeland and David Cline each finished with three hits to lead Pittsburgh, while Cashman and Negrych added two apiece.
Pittsburgh returns to Big East action this weekend as it travels to Seton Hall for a three-game series. The first pitch of the doubleheader on Saturday is slated for noon. The Panthers next home game is against city-rival Duquesne on Wednesday, May 12, at PNC Park. Admission is free.
