PITTSBURGH, Pa. ?The University of Pittsburgh women?s soccer team falls to the University of Miami 1-0 Friday night at Founders Field. The Panthers drop to 4-5-1, while the Hurricanes advance to 7-5-0.
The lone goal of the contest was scored by Miami?s Lindsey Yach at the 51:26 mark on a shot from 10-yards out on a pass from Ashley Durkee.
The Panther offense set up two scoring opportunities when sophomore forward Erin Hills (Burke, Va./James A. Robinson Secondary) took two direct kicks late in the second half that just skimmed the top of the net. Hills finished the game with four shots.
Pittsburgh?s defense limited the Hurricanes leading scored and Big East Offensive Player of the week, Lindsey Yach, to just one shot for one goal. Panther Goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) registered six saves.
The Panthers are next in action when the face No. 10 UConn Sunday at Founders Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
