Ed Nyman Joins Pittsburgh Athletic Staff

Edward Nyman has been named assistant coach for the University of Pittsburgh women's gymnastics team, it was announced by Head Coach Debbie Yohman.
"I am really excited to have Ed join our program," said Yohman, now in her 15th year at the helm of the Panthers. "His technical knowledge is tremendous and his enthusiasm is just outstanding. He is very excited to be stepping into a program that is making great strides for this year, and the years to come."
"I am really excited to be at the University of Pittsburgh," said Nyman. "There is a positive aura around the entire athletic department and gymnastics especially. We have a team of young and very talented gymnasts and I expect good things to come, now and long into the future."
Prior to joining the Pittsburgh staff, Nyman served as the assistant women's gymnastics coach at Ursinus College for three seasons. Since 1999, he was the team coach for the Phoenixville (Pa.) Area YMCA Gymnastics club, as well as a master staff coach for Woodward Gymnastics in Woodward, Pa.
Additionally, Nyman has held coaching positions with International Gymnastics in Stroudsburg, Pa., and for Sokol USA Gymnastics in Boonton, N.J. Throughout his club and collegiate coaching career, Nyman has worked with beginning to elite level gymnasts and with the girls junior olympic program from levels five through nine.
Nyman, a competitive gymnast from 1987-93, has been a USA Gymnastics Professional Member since 1997. He is USA Gymnastics Safety and PDP I certified and also holds cerification in American Red Cross First-Aid and CPR.
A native of Boonton, N.J., Nyman is a 2000 graduate of Ursinus College with a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science, and was a member of the Phi Epsilon Kappa national honors society.
