Panthers Fall To Tigers And Wildcats In Tri-Meet

PITTSBURGH - The Panther gymnastics team traveled to Towson to compete in a tri-meet with New Hampshire, falling to the Tigers (196.800) and Wildcats (194.225) with a score of 193.200.
The meet was the last of the regular season for Pittsburgh before the Panthers play host to the 2000 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Championships on March 18.
Freshman Nathalie Sulpher (Ottawa, Canada/Franco-Quest) led the vault and floor exercise with fifth- place (tied) finishes, including scores of 9.700 and 9.850, respectively.
On the uneven bars, senior Samantha Salyers (Glenn Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) also placed fifth with a 9.850.
Senior Danielle "Freddie" Alba (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) finished in a tie for second on balance beam with a 9.875, while placing third in the all-around with a 38.775.
The Panthers (7-6/1-3 EAGL) will host Towson and New Hampshire, as well as Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Rutgers and West Virginia in the 2000 EAGL Championships this Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. at Fitzgerald Field House.
