PITTSBURGH – Leketor Member-Meneh of volleyball and Cal Adomitis of football were named the Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
Member-Meneh, an outside hitter, helped the Pitt volleyball team (30-3, 15-3 ACC) make history over the weekend as the Panthers advanced to the National Semifinal round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship for the first time in program history. She was named Most Valuable Player of the Pittsburgh Regional as voted on by the media after averaging 4.57 kills per set on .347 hitting in wins against Kansas (3-0, Dec. 9) and No. 6 seed Purdue (3-1, Dec. 11) at Fitzgerald Field House. She matched the Pitt record for kills in a single NCAA Tournament match during the 25-point rally scoring era (2008-pres.) with 21 against the Boilermakers on Saturday.
Adomitis, a super senior long snapper, had a weekend to remember – both in the community and in his football career. On Friday, Adomitis welcomed a group of kids from UPMC Children’s Hospital to Heinz Field for a locker room and stadium tour to celebrate him surpassing his goal of raising $94,000 for UPMC Children’s to help with research for pediatric cancer. Adomitis’ fundraiser, which totaled more than $115,000, culminated in the kids cutting his famous long hair during their Heinz Field tour.
Adomitis then traveled to Chicago on Saturday for the Patrick Mannelly Award presentation, where he was announced the winner as the nation’s best long snapper this season. The Pittsburgh native and Pittsburgh Central Catholic product became Pitt’s first Mannelly Award winner.
After Pitt’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl showdown with Michigan State on Dec. 30 in Atlanta, Adomitis will feature in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in January in Mobile, Ala., which he was invited to as one of the top long-snapping prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft class.
