Taylor Scales joined the University of Pittsburgh in November of 2024 as an Academic Counselor working with Women’s Basketball and Track and Field, providing academic support, and supporting student-athletes, academically, personally, and professionally.
Scales joins Pitt from Georgetown University where she served as the Academic Coordinator for Women’s Basketball and was the 2023 Big East Conference Minority Award Recipient.
Prior to Georgetown, Scales worked at George Washington University advising Men’s Basketball, Swimming and Diving, Water Polo, and Softball. While at George Washington, Scales also served as the co-advisor for the Black Student-Athlete Alliance, a student led organization that was created to uplift voices of color in the GW community.
A 2017 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, Scales participated on the Women’s Track & Field team. She completed her Master of Art in Higher Education at Geneva College (2019).
A native of Western Pennsylvania, Scales returned and now resides in Monroeville, PA.
Beyond the Bio
What is your favorite thing to do in the city of Pittsburgh?
Sitting at The Point on the Fourth of July and watching the fireworks. Such a beautiful moment to watch the city light up.
What do you love most about working in athletics?
Student-Athletes! It is an amazing experience to watch their journey from freshmen year to senior year. The good and the bad, the wins and losses, we get to be a part of that journey every day with them.
Hobbies outside of work?
Cooking and baking classes.
