Peter Manguiat returned to the University of Pittsburgh volleyball program as the team’s director of operations in February 2019. During his first season at this position, the Panthers earned their third consecutive ACC Championship.
Manguiat serves as the liaison for the volleyball team to all athletic department officials, as well as visiting teams. He controls day-to-day operations for the Panthers, including coordinating travel and meals.
Prior to spending the 2017 and 2018 seasons as an assistant coach for the Marist College volleyball team, Manguiat was the Panthers’ volunteer assistant in 2016. During that year, he helped guide Pitt to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2004.

Both of my grandfathers and my dad. I was never able to meet either of my grandfathers and having them at dinner with my dad would be awesome to have three generations of men in my family together.

- Helped lead Pitt to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, marking the longest postseason streak since the Panthers played in five consecutive NCAA Tournaments from 1990-94
- Assisted the Panthers en route to a program-best No. 6 seeding for the NCAA Tournament and hosted the First and Second Rounds for the second consecutive year at Petersen Events Center
- Pitt ended the season with its highest final rankings in program history, at No. 5 in the NCAA RPI and No. 11 in the AVCA Coaches Poll, marking the sixth consecutive season ranked in the Top 50
- Controlled the day-to-day operations for the volleyball team, including serving as a liaison to athletic department officials

- Had 14 student-athlete selected to the All-Academic Team
- The Red Foxes competed at the MAAC Tournament in both of his two seasons

- Pitt ranked second in the ACC in hitting percentage (.255), second in assists, averaging 13.18 per set, and second in kills with 14.10 per set

- Coached boys and girls teams ranging from ages 14-18 that made multiple showings at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships
- Organized and ran practices drills, and tournaments to help boys and girls improve volleyball skills
- Scouted opponents including creating advanced scouting reports and in-game attack charts
- Summer volleyball camp coach for boys and girls ages 8-18, skills ranging from beginning to advanced

- Coached the team en route to an undefeated season in the Diablo Foothill Athletic League in 2013
- The Falcons also won the 2013 UC Davis Tournament and was a North Coast Section Semi-finalist in the same year
