Kim Maroon
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant Coach
Pitt volleyball head coach Dan Fisher added Kim Maroon to his staff as volunteer assistant coach in July 2019.
“I feel extremely fortunate to be at Pitt right now, and can’t thank Coach Fisher enough for the opportunity,” Maroon said. “While taking some time away from full time coaching, I’m always looking for situations to learn and develop, and I can’t think of a better place to be. The excitement around the program is inspiring and I’m so excited to be a part of it.”
Maroon arrives in Pittsburgh after spending the 2018 season as a volunteer coach at her alma mater, Villanova. She is a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American (2009, 2011), as well as a two-time Big East Libero of the Year (2010, 2011). The Virginia Beach, Va., native holds the current NCAA record for digs per set in a single season (6.87). She earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from Villanova in 2012.
Prior to coaching at Villanova, she spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla., from 2014-18. Maroon coached 20 All-Atlantic Sun Conference student-athletes, including one ASUN Player of the Year, two Setters of the Year and two Freshmen of the Year. The Eagles went 89-31 and 42-14 in conference play over her four years on staff.
Maroon began her collegiate coaching career at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She was a graduate assistant from 2012-13 prior to being promoted to assistant coach for the 2013 season. Over two years, she coached five All-Southland Conference players and guided the team to a 41-23 overall record, 25-12 in league play.
