Kaila Ealey begins her first season as the director of recruiting operations for the Pitt women’s basketball program in 2021-22. Ealey joins the Panthers’ staff after a five-year playing career at ACC rival NC State.
“I'm super grateful for this opportunity with the Pitt program,” said Ealey. “I can't wait to be a part of something special.”
Ealey’s main job responsibilities include managing recruiting travel arrangements for all coaches, compiling prospects information for coaching staff and working with the creative team on all aspects of in home and on campus visits.
The Raleigh, NC native made 36 career starts at point guard across her successful five-years as a member of the NC State women’s basketball team. For her career, Ealey netted 435 points, 326 rebounds, 241 assists and 104 steals while appearing in 94 games for the Wolfpack.
She enjoyed the best season of her playing career in 2017-18 as she started all 35 games while averaging a career-high 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals while connecting on 22 three-pointers across 33.4 minutes per game. She posted a career-high 22 points in a win over North Carolina (1/18/18) while also snagging a career-best 12 boards and nine assists in a win over Old Dominion (11/20/17). She scored in double figures 13 times while also leading the team in assists in 24 of 35 games during her sophomore campaign.
While at NC State, Ealey was a two-time All-ACC Academic Honor Roll member as well as a two-time Heart of the Pack Award winner. She was also a two-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as she helped to coordinate team community service events, planned and executed end of year athletic banquets and mentored incoming freshmen student-athletes.
A five-year member of the Wolfpack women’s basketball program, Ealey earned her bachelor of science degree in sport management from NC State in 2018 before graduating with her master of science degree in parks, recreation, tourism and sport management from NC State in 2019.
