Imani Wright begins her first season on the Pitt women’s basketball staff as assistant director of basketball operations for the 2019-20 season.
Wright will assist the director of basketball operations with coordinating travel logistics, practice and game preparation and community service activities for the team. She will also assist with NCAA compliance and academics while assisting administration with the planning and execution of Pitt women’s basketball camps.
Wright joins the Panthers staff after previously playing two seasons (2016-18) for Lance White at Florida State after transferring to the Seminoles from Baylor where she spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career.
At Florida State, Wright blossomed into a two-year starter who netted 898 career points while connecting on 171 three-pointers, fourth most in program history, across just 67 games. The Hooks, Texas native was an honorable mention AP All-American and First Team All-ACC performer during her senior campaign in 2017-18 after averaging 16.3 points and notching a program-record 100 three-pointers. She was selected with the 26th pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury and appeared in one game in the 2018 season.
