Matt Alberghini was named the volunteer assistant coach of the University of Pittsburgh softball program in August of 2017.

- Named volunteer assistant coach of the University of Pittsburgh softball program August 22, 2017.
- Helped coach the program to its first ACC Coastal Division Championship and second ACC Tournament Championship appearance in school history.
- Worked with players primarily on hitting.
- Coached senior Giorgiana Zeremenko to top-five single-season program batting records in home runs (15), walks (34), on-base percentage (.464) and slugging percentage (.714).
- Coached senior McKayla Taylor to a fifth place finish in single-season program history for runs with 42.

- Worked as an assistant director of softball operations intern and student manager with the softball team from 2015-17.
- Assisted with the day-to-day operations for the softball team.
