2022: Did not play in any games...honored as a Military Bowl 3M STEM Scholar-Athlete.
2021: Earned All-ACC (third team) in his first year as Pitt’s starting placekicker, converting 17-of-21 field goals (81%) and 69-of-72 extra points (96%)…his season point total of 120 set a Pitt kick scoring record, surpassing the prior mark of 115 set by Dan Hutchins in 2009…ranked 13th nationally and second in the ACC in total points scored…his average of 8.6 points per game ranked 27th nationally and third in the ACC…in Pitt's 54-29 win at Duke, Scarton was perfect on each of his 10 placements, converting four field goals and six PATs, for a career-high 18 points, tying the school single-game kick scoring record set by Conor Lee in a four-overtime 36-33 victory at Notre Dame in 2008…had a season-long 47-yard field goal against the Blue Devils…converted each of his seven placements (two field goals and five PATs) for 11 points in a 41-34 win at Tennessee…totaled 10 points in a 52-21 win at Georgia Tech, making his lone field goal attempt (a 46-yarder) and each of his seven PATs…named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Converted 11-of-15 field goals (73%) over his final two seasons at Hickory…had long field goals of 52 and 50 yards…as a senior kickoff specialist, had 77% of his kicks result in touchbacks…Pennsylvania Football Writers All-Class 3A at kicker…two-time all-region and all-district as both a kicker and punter…played under Coach Bill Brest…selected to play in the West Penn All-Star Game and NFBD All-Star Game…also earned three letters in soccer and three in track and field at Hickory….all-region honoree in soccer…four-year Academic Letter Winner.
PERSONAL: Samuel John Scarton, born 11/6/00, is the son of Ronald and Cathy Scarton…has two brothers and one sister…brother, Jake, was a two-year walk-on kicker with the Pitt football team (2017-18)…mechanical engineering major.
