JUNIOR (2005): Shaun Butler made a team-high 18 appearances on the mound for the Panthers in his first year with the team...made four starts and finished 3-5 with a 5.52 ERA...led the Panthers with four saves and nearly struck out one per inning, finishing with 45 strikeouts in 45.2 innings...picked up a save in his first appearance as a Panther, allowing a walk and striking out one in an inning of work vs. Rider...added a second save against Rider two days later with two K[apos]s in two innings of work...earned his first victory at Pitt in 3.1 innings of relief vs. La Salle, striking out six Explorer batters...struck out two of the three batters he faced vs. No. 6 Miami...earned his second win vs. Akron with three strikeouts and just one run allowed in four innings...pitched his best game at Boston College, registering his first complete game, allowing six hits in nine innings with one run allowed and four strikeouts in the 6-1 win...struck out nine batters in 6.2 innings of work vs. West Virginia...earned his fourth and final save in the Big East Championships win over St. John[apos]s.

PRIOR TO PITTSBURGH: Butler joined the Panthers from Gulf Coast Community College...named All-State All-Star.

HIGH SCHOOL: Established school records for most strikeouts in a game, most strikeouts in a season and most career strikeouts...garnered All-Section honors as a sophomore, junior and senior and All-State honors as a junior and senior.

PERSONAL: Born on June 27, 1984...son of Raymond and Pamela Butler...has one brother and one sister...majoring in criminal justice.
