SOPHOMORE (2005): Paul Nardozzi served as both a starter and reliever for the Panthers, making 10 starts in 14 appearances...posted a 4-5 record and had a 4.02 ERA...finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts while picking up his first win of the season vs. Wagner, allowing seven hits and two runs in eight innings...struck out nine batters in 5.2 innings to pick up the win vs. Temple...pitched six scoreless innings to earn a victory over Canisius...picked up the win in Pitt[apos]s dramatic Big East Tournament win over Boston College in 12 innings...pitched four innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run while striking out five batters...struck out eight batters in eight innings vs. Connecticut...notched his first save in 2.2 innings of relief in the final regular-season win over Georgetown...now has 10 wins in two seasons with Pitt.
FRESHMAN (2004): Nardozzi served primarily as a mid-week starter and weekend reliever for the Panthers...had a 6-3 record and a 4.61 ERA...his six wins were second on the team...started five games and saw action in 15 contests overall...in five Big East appearances, was 2-1 with a 3.68 ERA...had two combined shutouts, which led the team...notched his first career win with an 8-0 victory over Mount St. Mary[apos]s...finished with a career-high eight strikeouts in five innings, giving up no runs and just two hits...earned second win of the season in the rain-shortened five-inning game against Kent State...picked up his third win after starting and working the first five innings at Akron...gave up no runs and struck out four batters while allowing six hits...pitched the final 2.2 innings against then-No. 4 Notre Dame and ended up recording his fourth victory of the year as the Panthers came back in the ninth inning for the upset...in three innings of relief at Niagara, gave up no runs and no hits while striking out three batters in picking up his fifth win of the year...followed up with a victory over Seton Hall, pitching 4.1 innings of relief...struck out four Pirates and gave up just two hits and one run...in the Big East Tournament against Boston College, came on to pitch the final 3.1 innings, allowing just two hits and two runs (zero earned) while striking out two Eagles[apos] batters.
