Eight Panthers Earn CSCAA All-America Selections

PITTSBURGH –Mary Clarke, Sydney Gring, Claire Jansen, Avery Kudlac, James Allison, Merlin Belmon, Julian Koch and Alan Vergine were named CSCAA All-America selections for their performances at NCAAs.
Jansen (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke) and Koch (100 butterfly, 100 freestyle) both earned CSCAA first-team honors.
Allison (400 free relay, 800 free relay), Belmon (400 free relay, 800 free relay), Koch (50 freestyle, 400 free relay, 800 free relay), Vergine (400 free relay, 800 free relay), Clarke (200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay), Gring (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay), Jansen (200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay) and Kudlac (200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay) all earned CSCAA second-team honors.
Koch earned first-team All-American honors in both the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, setting program records in both events. Koch also posted a program record of 1:16.20 with the 200 freestyle relay and a leadoff split program record in the 50 freestyle with an 18.65 and earned honorable mention honors in the 400 free relay and 800 free relay.
Jansen earned first-team All-America honors in the 200 backstroke, placing fourth in the finals in a program-record 1:49.10, and seventh in the 100 backstroke finals. Jansen also earned honorable mention honors in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay.
Gring earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 IM (10th), 100 backstroke (11th) and 100 butterfly (16th), along with the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay. She contributed a program-record 47.91 leadoff split in the 400 freestyle relay.
Allison, Belmon and Vergine each earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 400 free relay and 800 free relay at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Clarke and Kudlac each earned honorable mention honors in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 800 free relay at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
