PITTSBURGH- Claire Jansen of women's swimming and Somiyah Braggs of track and field have been named Pitt's PNC Achievers of the Week following standout performances last week.
Jansen capped her 2026 NCAA Championship appearance as a two-event first-team All-American, finishing fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in a school-record 1:49.10 and seventh in the 100-yard backstroke in 50.67.
Over the course of the week, Jansen became a two-time first team All-American and anchored a relay group that scored in three events at a single NCAA Championship meet for the first time in program history, helping Pitt tie for 16th place, the highest team finish in program history.
Braggs recorded two individual top 10 program times and played a key role in the 4x100 relay's top 10 performance as Pitt track and field opened its outdoor season at the Charlotte 49er Classic this past weekend.
Braggs began the meet with a second-place finish in the 100 meters, crossing the line in 11.53, a personal best and the third fastest time in program history. She followed that performance with another standout effort in the 200 meters, clocking 23.57 — an outdoor personal best that ranks fourth all-time at Pitt.
The junior was instrumental for the Panthers in two relays. The Miami, Fla. native led the 4x100 relay team to a second-place finish with a time of 45.16. The quartet of Braggs, Faith Dennis, Endeyah Lane and Alma Evuna Eki moved into eighth in on the program's all-time top 10 list with their effort. To close out the meet, Braggs helped the 4x400 relay team place third with a pace of 3:44.54.
