CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Pitt battled early but couldn't withstand a second-quarter surge, falling 78-50 to No. 22 North Carolina Sunday afternoon at Carmichael Arena.

North Carolina (23-6, 12-4 ACC), however, flipped the game in the second quarter. The Tar Heels shot 57.9 percent from the field and knocked down six three-pointers in the period, outscoring Pitt 30-13 to take a 42-27 lead into halftime. Hagans Jr. scored 11 of Pitt's 13 points in the frame.

The Tar Heels capitalized on second-chance opportunities, holding a 20-9 edge in second-chance points and a 31-5 advantage in bench scoring.
