PITTSBURGH – Pitt lacrosse will play the first head-to-head ranked matchup in program history on Wednesday, as the Panthers travel east to play No. 23 Penn State in Holuba Hall. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Pitt is 2-0 for only the second time in five years after earning their first top-15 win last week. The Panthers took down No. 14 Duke 17-10 on February 12 at Highmark Stadium. The win propelled Pitt into the national rankings for the first time in program history. Kaitlyn Giandonato recorded six points (4G, 2A) and Molly Cain made 10 saves in net to push the hosts to the ACC win. The Panthers scored the first goal of the contest and never relented, leading wire-to-wire.
SCOUTING PENN STATE
The Nittany Lions sit at 3-0 early in the season, most recently defeating Bucknell 21-9 on Sunday. That win comes on the heels of wins over Richmond and UMass previously. Rocquette Allen leads Penn State offensively with 12 goals, while Sydney Manning has stopped 21 opposing shots through three games.
MATCHUP HISTORY
Penn State leads the series 3-1, but Pitt holds the bragging rights after beating the Nittany Lions 12-10 in 2025 at the Pitt Sports Dome. Graduate Sydney Naylor scored four goals and added two assists to push the Panthers to the rivalry win.
