Panthers Post PRs, Program Top-10 Marks at the Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, SC – Pitt track and field wrapped up the final weekend of regular season indoor action at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, recording personal records and program top-10 times in many events.
FRIDAY RECAP
- Jaden Shelton advanced to the 60-meter hurdles semifinals with a qualifying time of 7.83. Shelton went on to clock a time of 7.85 in the semis, finishing 19th in the round.
- Somiyah Braggs recorded a new personal best in the women's 60-meter prelims. Braggs recorded a time of 7.33, beating her previous best time of 7.36. Braggs remains in second on the all-time top 10 list in the event. In the semis, the Miami native improved her time to 7.31, finishing just shy of the 7.30 school record time. Faith Dennis equaled her season's best time of 7.58 in the first round.
- Darren McQueen Jr. moved on from the 60-meter prelims with a time of 6.76. McQueen ran the exact same time in the next round to finish 19th.
- Alexandria Scott earned a personal best in the women's 400-meter race, 55.43.
- Colin Kravitz ran the eighth fastest 400-meter time in program history, 47.17.
SATURDAY RECAP
- Precious Irivi's mark of 14.38-meters in the men's triple jump earned 12th place.
- All Pitt athletes entered into the women's 200-meter race ran a personal best. The Panthers were led by Somiyah Braggs with a time of 23.42, which is the second fastest time in program history. Faith Dennis posted a speed of 24.52. Alma Evuna Eki followed in 24.59. Maliah Edwards, Jana Bruses and Alexandra Scott finished consecutively with times of 25.38, 25.47 and 25.60.
- On the men's side, James Long ran a personal best time, 21.82. Che Nwabuko finished next for Pitt in 21.89. Jaden Shelton tied his best rate of 22.06.
- The women's 4x400 relay squad ran the eighth fastest time in program history, 3:39.12, which is also a season's best.
- The men's 4x400 relay quartet put together a time of 3:10.77.
UP NEXT
- ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship qualifiers will head to Boston to compete in the three-day meet that runs Feb. 26-28.
