Panthers Pile Up Six Wins at PSU National Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Pitt track and field team turned in a strong showing at the PSU National Open, capturing six event titles and adding multiple marks to the program's all-time list.
FIRST PLACE
- Jaden Shelton, 60mH – 7.74
- Eva Baldursdottir, High Jump – 1.79m
- Women's Distance Medley Relay (A) – Elena Barrall, Sophie Mullins, Ella Cook, Camy Kiser – 11:58.52
- Men's Distance Medley Relay – Damian Frausto, Corey Greenfield, Graham Heinrich, Luke Simpson – 9:58.37
- Somiyah Braggs, 200m Invite – 24.18
- Quintin Gatons, 3000m Invite – 7:58.37
- Personal best, moves from third to second in program history
SECOND PLACE
- Somiyah Braggs, 60m – 7.47

FRIDAY NOTABLES
- Madisyn Hawkins threw a 17.65-meter personal best to finish sixth in the women's weight throw and solidify her spot on the all-time top 10 list with the eighth farthest toss in program history.
- Uri Arnon finished 8th in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.66-meters. Freshman Jacob Burgess followed in 9th place with a 6.64-meter mark.
- Camy Kiser recorded a personal best in the mile, stopping the clock in 4:50.81 for the ninth fastest time in program history.
- Luke Simpson and Damian Frausto earned personal bests in the mile with respective times of 4:01.92 and 4:11.43. Simpson was fourth at the meet. He remains in third on the all-time program top 10 list.
- Alexandria Scott's time of 56.43 in the women's 400-meter run yielded seventh place.
- Colin Kravitz received fourth place in the men's 400-meter race with his time of 48.13 while Cole Strother was ninth with his pace of 48.81.
SATURDAY NOTABLES
- Emeka Ugwu connected on a 17.97-meter throw in the men's shot put to finish in fifth.
- Alex Fleck finished sixth in the women's 3000-meter race, stopping the clock in 9:56.53, a personal best.
- Alma Evuna Eki collected fifth in the women's 200-meter dash with a new best time of 24.62. Colin Kravitz also received fifth in the men's event with his time of 21.68.
- Niya Crawford launched a 15.35-meter throw in the women's shot put to solidify fourth place on the day.
- While Braggs won the 200-meter invite, Faith Dennis was one of the eight invited to compete in the quick race. Dennis' 24.72 time resulted in fifth place.
- Darren McQueen Jr. was the only Panther in the field of nine for the men's 200-meter invite. The senior brought in fourth place in 21.52.
- Thomas McMahon followed Quintin Gatons in the men's 3000-meter invite section. McMahon secured fifth place in 8:12.13.
UP NEXT
Pitt will remain in the Keystone State for the Penn Classic in Philadelphia Feb. 6-7.
