Panthers Host Villanova for Senior Day

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt Swimming and Diving program will host Villanova for Senior Day on Friday, Jan. 23 at Trees Pool. Pitt diving will also return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 to host the diving portion of the Western PA Invite at 1:30 p.m.

Off to a 7-1 start, the Pitt women's team is 25th in the January edition of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Division I Poll. The Panthers came in an No.24 in the December edition,marking the first CSCAA national ranking in program history.
Last Time Out
The Pitt swimming and diving teams delivered a strong all-around performance Saturday afternoon, earning a road sweep over West Virginia at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center. The No.24 Panther women posted a 206-93 victory, while the men followed with a 180-119 win. With the results, Pitt secured its fifth straight victory over the Mountaineers.
Scouting Villanova
The Wildcat women are on a three-meet winning streak, most recently defeating James Madison at home 186-113. The men and women both fell to ranked Florida State to kick off the 2026 year.
Panthers to Watch
Mariana Osorio Mendoza: 2x NCAA qualifier, and ACC Championship Finalist entering her third year with the program. She finished sixth on platform at the ACC Championships. She was a 2024 World Junior Championship bronze medalist on platform. Qualified for the World Championships this summer for Colombia on platform diving.
Noah Bernard: Junior Worlds Finalist and NCAA Championships and ACC Championships qualifier in his first collegiate season. 2x ACC Diver of the Week 2024-25. Placed first in 1M and 3M dive in last competition at West Virginia.
Julian Koch: ACC Championships qualifier who set multiple school records as a freshman. Finished 16th in the 100 freestyle at the ACC Championships and captured silver at the European U23 Championships. Currently ranks among fourth in the country in the 100 free with a time of 41.15.
Claire Jansen: Seven-time school record holder in the 50, 100, and 200 backstroke events. 2025 NCAA Honorable Mention All-American, helping the Pitt women achieve their highest NCAA team finish in 29 years. Currently ranks sixth in the country in the 200 back and 11th in the 100 back.
Sydney Gring: NCAA Championships Qualifier, ACC Championships Qualifier and multiple school record holder entering her third year with the program.Helped set school records in the 400 and 800 Free Relays at the NCAA Championships. Pitt's 800 Free Relay team recorded the highest NCAA relay finish in program history. Currently 18th in the nation in the 100 fly.

The Panthers will travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Saturday, Jan. 31. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m.
