ATLANTA – Pitt snapped a nine-game road losing streak and earned its first ACC win of the season with a dominant 89-66 victory over Georgia Tech Wednesday night at McCamish Pavilion.
The Panthers (8-9, 1-3 ACC) raced out to a 12-2 lead in the opening minutes and never looked back, building a 45-26 halftime advantage en route to their most complete performance of the conference season. It marked the first true road win for Pitt of the 2025-26 campaign and snapped a seven-game ACC road losing skid.
Sophomore guard Brandin Cummings continued his torrid stretch off the bench, scoring 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting to lead five Panthers in double figures. Cummings, who scored 29 points in Pitt's most recent game against Syracuse, has now combined for 52 points over his last two contests.
Nojus Indrusaitis added a career-high-tying 16 points off the bench while connecting on a career-best four three-pointers. Barry Dunning, Jr. contributed 17 points and seven rebounds, extending his double-figure scoring streak to 11 of the last 13 games. Cameron Corhen finished with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting to go along with four steals, and Roman Siulepa added 11 points and eight rebounds.
Pitt set the tone early, going on an early 12-0 run that forced Georgia Tech into an early timeout. Corhen scored twice inside during the surge, including a thunderous transition dunk, while Siulepa capped the run with an offensive rebound and putback slam.
The Panthers continued to build on the lead throughout the half, pushing the margin to 35-17 on a Dunning transition dunk after a Siulepa steal. Pitt shot 53 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes and made 6-of-10 from three-point range while holding the Yellow Jackets to just 31 percent shooting.
The defensive pressure was relentless throughout, as Pitt forced 15 Georgia Tech turnovers and finished with 12 steals. Siulepa and Corhen each had four steals, while Indrusaitis added three. Damarco Minor orchestrated the offense with seven assists against zero turnovers.
Georgia Tech (10-8, 1-4 ACC), which entered the game 10-2 at home, got 14 points from Kam Craft off the bench, while Baye Ndongo added 12 points and eight rebounds.
With 89 points, Pitt improved to 54-2 under head coach Jeff Capel when scoring 80 or more in a game. The 23-point victory was the seventh-largest road conference win in program history.
The Panthers return to action Saturday when they host No. 20/19 Louisville at the Petersen Events Center at 8 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
