
Pitt Hosts Incarnate Word Monday

PITTSBURGH – ?? Following a loss to Notre Dame in Friday's ACC home opener, Pitt returns to Ambrose Urbanic Field to host Incarnate Word on Monday evening.

The Opening Kick
- The Panthers were shut out for the second time this season against the Irish, despite controlling 73 percent of possession and holding a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Panthers were without sophomore forward Lasse Dahl on Friday. A 2024 ACC All-Freshman selection, Dahl has recently found form with an assist at Clemson followed by his first career brace against Butler.
- Pitt previously dropped consecutive road matches to Georgetown and then-No. 3 Clemson before bouncing back with a 4-1 victory over Butler last Monday.
- Graduate midfielder Arnau Vilamitjana has paced the Panthers' attack this fall, logging three assists in the win over Butler to raise his team-best points total to nine. All three of Vilamitjana's goals this season have come on set pieces.

- Monday will mark the first-ever meeting between Pitt and Incarnate Word.

Last Time Out (vs. Notre Dame)
In front of a sellout crowd at Ambrose Urbanic Field, the Pitt men's soccer team fell to Notre Dame, 2-0, Friday evening.The result marked Pitt's first home loss of the season and its first 0-2 start in ACC play since 2018.
Notre Dame struck early as Luke Burton finished off a pass from Nolan Spicer in the 14th minute. The Panthers regrouped and created several quality chances before halftime but went into the break trailing, 1-0.
Pitt's best opportunity of the first period came in the 45th minute, when junior midfielder Santiago Ferreira and junior forward Anders Bordoy executed a well-timed give-and-go but Bordoy's shot sailed just off target.
Pitt continued to control play in the second half, but Spicer notched his second assist of the night in the 67th minute, setting up Wyatt Borso to double the Irish lead.
The Panthers finished with a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks but were unable to capitalize, with several late attempts blocked in the box.
Individually, seven Panthers attempted a shot, with freshman midfielder Grayson Carter and junior forward Albert Thorsen accounting for the team's two on target. Goalkeeper Jack Moxom recorded two saves.
Of note, Friday marked the Panthers' second consecutive match controlling possession by 70 percent or more.
