Viegas Named to Spain National Team Roster for 2025 FIBA U20 Eurobasket Tournament

PITTSBURGH – Junior transfer guard Carla Viegas was named to Spain's national team roster for the 2025 FIBA U20 Women's Eurobasket Tournament, as announced Thursday morning.
Viegas, a product of Malaga, Spain, recently joined the Panthers this Spring with two years of eligibility remaining after beginning her collegiate career at Florida State.

Viegas averaged 6.0 points per contest on 43.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc during the 2024-25 campaign. Of note, 63 of Viegas' 64 field goals made last season were 3-pointers.
Viegas had one of her best showings last season against Pitt (Feb. 20) – recording 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from deep. She also had a standout performance against then-No. 1 Notre Dame on Feb. 27, shooting 4-of-7 from downtown as the Seminoles upset the top-ranked Irish.
Overall, Viegas recorded 320 points and 100 triples in 61 games during her career at Florida State.
Prior to Florida State, Viegas enjoyed a successful prep career – representing Spain on the global stage. She averaged 9.3 points, while shooting 44.7 percent from 3-point range in helping Spain to a third-place finish at the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championship. Viegas also previously played for CAB Estepona of the Spanish League, where she shot 52-of-91 from 3-point range in 2019-20, 28-of-64 in 2020-21 and 58-of-115 in 2021-22.

Following the group phase of the competition, all 16 teams will then receive a Round of 16 opponent for Wednesday, Aug. 6, from which point on – the competition becomes a single elimination bracket up until the tournament's title game on Sunday, Aug. 10. The tournament will also have a consolation bracket to determine the final ranking of all 16 teams in attendance.
