
Panthers Add Angel Jones to 2025 Transfer Class

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball program officially signed 5-4 guard Angel Jones to its 2025 transfer class, as announced by head coach Tory Verdi Saturday evening.
Jones, a native of Woodbridge, Va., arrives with one year of eligibility remaining after stops at Coppin State and Siena.
"Angel is an extremely talented scoring guard," said Verdi. "She will bring a ton of experience to our team."
A First Team All-MEAC selection and BOXTOROW HBCU First Team All-American, Jones averaged 15.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 campaign, while shooting 43.8 percent from the field. Additionally, Jones tallied 120 assists and 61 steals – good for third and fourth in the MEAC, respectively.
Jones had arguably her best showing of the season against Norfolk State on Jan. 11, logging 29 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc. The standout guard also had a solid performance against then-No. 1 South Carolina (Nov. 14) – recording 17 points, five boards and three assists.
Of note, Jones previously earned Second-Team All-MEAC accolades during the 2023-24 season.
Overall, she has compiled 954 points, 357 rebounds, 238 assists and 118 steals, while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from deep for her career.
Jones was tabbed a McDonald's All-American nominee and garnered Second Team All-State and Washington Post All-Met honors as a senior at Forest Park High School.
