PITTSBURGH – Luca Augustine added another prestigious accolade to his resume, being named the 2024-25 Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Pitt also had six Panthers named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.
Augustine is the fourth recipient from the program to earn Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, joining Tyler Wilps (2015), Jake Wentzel (2021), and Nino Bonaccorsi (2023).
Augustine holds a 3.94 cumulative GPA in biology and was the recipient of the NCAA ELITE 90 Award and earned his third NWCA Scholar All-American honors earlier this year. The redshirt-junior finished as the runner-up at the ACC Championships at 174-pounds and advanced to the Round of 12 at the NCAA Championships – just one win shy of earning All-American status. The three-time NCAA qualifier earned the No. 15 seed in the national tournament in March and finished the season with a 20-9 overall record.
Earning selections to the 2025 All-ACC Academic Wrestling Team were Augustine, graduate student Nick Babin (finance), redshirt-freshman Tyler Chappell (undeclared), redshirt-sophomore Jared Keslar (law, criminal justice, and society), redshirt-sophomore Dayton Pitzer (communications), and redshirt-sophomore Mac Stout (communications). Augustine earned his third selection to the academic team while Keslar earned his second selection.
The All-ACC Academic Team honors the student-athletes who have achieved a minimum 3.0 grade point average for their career and minimum 3.0 grade point average for the most recently completed semester, along with competing in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled matches.
Pitt head coach Keith Gavin has now seen 30 of his individual wrestlers earn All-ACC Academic honors over the past eight seasons, including at least four on five occasions.
