Panthers Sign EIWA Freshman of the Year Eugene Harney

PITTSBURGH – Pitt has signed Eugene Harney to an aid agreement to join the Pitt wrestling program for the 2026-27 season. Harney spent his redshirt freshman campaign at Morgan State, where he was named the EIWA Freshman of the Year after securing an EIWA title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Competing at 149 pounds, Harney concluded the season with a 29-6 overall record and a team-high 17 wins by decision, along with four pins and six major decisions. He earned the No. 18 seed at 149 pounds at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships and advanced to the consolation round of 16.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native made history at the EIWA Championships, capturing the 149 title, marking the program's first-ever EIWA champion.
