PITTSBURGH, PA – Pitt Lacrosse will look to make the most of another ACC opportunity Saturday when Cal comes to town. The Panthers and Golden Bears are scheduled to face off at 12 PM at Highmark Stadium.
The two Atlantic Coast Conference foes have never played before and 2025 is the first season that the Golden Bears have competed in the league. Both squads are seeking their first ACC win this year.
The Panthers put on an offensive show last game, as they defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles by a score of 23-3 on Monday. Jenna Hendrickson scored four goals, while Avery Moon and Sydney Naylor each added a hat trick. Pitt posted a 21-8 advantage off the draw, including a overwhelming 17-1 edge in the opening half of play. The 23 goals and 33 points were both program records.
Cal sits at 2-3 (0-2 ACC) and is coming off of a 20-9 loss in Charlottesville to Virginia. Kennedy Mason and Emily Moes are the leading Golden Bears offensively, with 16 points (14G, 2A) and 14 points (10G, 4A), respectively. Two Golden Bear goalies have seen significant time in the net: Chloe Rand with 16 saves (.390 save percentage) and Callan Fritsch with 28 saves (.400 save percentage).
The ACC tilt will be live on the ACC Network and can be streamed via the ESPN app here. The Panthers will welcome back Forever Panthers for Alumni Day and will also have Princess Lilli Durante from Friends of Jaclyn in attendance Saturday.
The Panthers will remain in Pittsburgh to play two additional home games following Cal. Next up will be another non-conference match-up, this time vs. Liberty on March 12th.
