PITTSBURGH, PA – Pitt Lacrosse goes for their third straight win of the campaign Wednesday afternoon when the Liberty Flames visit Highmark Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 4 PM in Station Square.
Pitt and Liberty met last season in Virginia, where the Flames held on for a 20-17 win. Liberty jumped out to an early first quarter lead, but the visitors from the ACC fought back the remainder of the contest and closed in the final half 9-7 before ultimately falling.
The Panthers defeated Cal last time on the field in 2025, their first ACC win since the inaugural season of Pitt Lacrosse in 2022. Jill Fenech and Sydney Naylor each scored a pair of goals, with Fenech netting the game winner in the fourth quarter to give the Panthers a 7-6 win. Defender Abby Thorne picked up six ground balls to match the Pitt single-game record and goalie Molly Cain matched a career high with 12 saves in the net.
Liberty is riding a six-game win streak and sits at 6-2 on the season. The Flames fell to the two ACC foes on their 2025 schedule: 20-5 vs. Virginia and 23-1 vs. North Carolina. Two Flames student-athletes have scored 20 or more goals: Taiva Reinertson (24G, 8A) and Mackenzie Lehman (20G, 9A). Rachel Hines has played the majority of minutes in the cage and has made 48 saves to go with a .356 save percentage.
The non-conference matchup will air live on ACC Network Extra via the ESPN app here. The Panthers will recognize their Most Valuable Professors (MVPs) at Wednesday's game.
