COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The 16th-ranked Pitt wrestling team won nine of 10 bouts to defeat the Maryland Terrapins, 35-3, on the road Saturday afternoon at Schanwald Pavilion.
The Panthers collected four bonus-point victories en route to their dominant performance, with Tyler Chappell, Dylan Evans, Chase Kranitz, and Dayton Pitzer all earning bonus points.
Chappell set the tone for the dual, opening the afternoon with a win by major decision at 125 pounds. Briar Priest extended the Panther lead with a win in sudden victory over No. 26 Dario Lemus at 141. Priest trailed 4-2 heading into the third period but earned a takedown with 30 seconds remaining in regulation for a 5-4 lead. Lemus tied the bout with an escape, sending the match into overtime, where Priest secured three back points to earn the victory.
Evans returned to 157 pounds in dominant fashion, recording a 19-4 technical fall over Mekhi Neal. At 184, Kranitz took control of the match early, accumulating over a minute of riding time and building a 6-0 lead in the first period. He extended his advantage to 10-0 heading into the third and added two more takedowns, an escape, and a riding time point to secure another technical fall victory for the Panthers.
No. 11 Mac Stout battled back after surrendering and early takedown to No. 15 Branson John at 197 pounds. Stout tied the bout 4-4 in the third period and got two takedowns in the final 1:30 to secure the 11-6 win.
Pitzer put the exclamation point on the dual with a win by pinfall over Oscar Williams at 285 to seal the road win for the Panthers.
No. 20 Kade Brown (149), Jared Keslar (165), and No. 25 Luca Augustine (174) also picked up wins by decision for Pitt.

Pitt returns to the Fitzgerald Field House on Saturday, Dec. 20, for a dual against Edinboro. The match is slated to start at 2 p.m. and will be streamed on ACCNX.
