No. 20 Pitt Rolls to 33-6 Win at Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The No. 20 Pitt wrestling team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a dominant 33-6 win over Buffalo at Alumni Hall, Saturday afternoon. The Panthers won eight of 10 bouts, including five by bonus points.
Pitt opened with back-to-back technical fall wins by Tyler Chappell (125) and Evan Tallmadge (133) and didn't give up a takedown in the first three matches. The Panthers combined 18 takedowns in the dual while surrendering only three to the Bulls.
Briar Priest (141) and Chase Kranitz (184) each secured a victory by decision, while Dylan Evans battled to win, 4-2, at 165 pounds.
Pitt added three more wins by bonus points at 174, 197, and 285 pounds. Luca Augustine (174) held a 4-1 lead heading into the third period and notched two more takedowns to secure the 10-2 major decision victory over Rafael Knapp. Mac Stout (197) earned his sixth straight win with a 19-2 technical fall in 2:41 over Connor Jacobs. Dayton Pitzer closed out the dual with another dominant 15-0 technical fall win over Jack Macdonald.
The Panthers dropped two close matches. Anthony Santaniello fell in a tight 6-5 decision to Sam Ewing at 149, while Vince Bouzakis and No. 30 Kaleb Burgess were tied at 4-4 to start the third period at 157. An escape and a takedown by Burgess with under a minute left secured a victory for the Bulls.

The Panthers return to Pittsburgh to host Princeton in their home opener Friday, Nov. 14 at the Fitzgerald Field House. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ACCNX.
