GAME STORYLINES
- Pitt capped off a perfect 4–0 record in ACC road play with its 42–28 win at No. 16 Georgia Tech on Saturday night. The victory marked the Panthers' second road win over a ranked opponent this season (also No. 25 Florida State), their most in a single year during the Narduzzi era. Defensively, Pitt produced multiple interceptions for the third straight game, marking its fifth multi-interception performance of the season—tied for the second-most in a single season in program history (also achieved in 2020).
- Mason Heintschel completed 20-of-27 passes for 226 yards, two touchdowns through the air, and another on the ground. He has now won six of his first seven career starts and has thrown multiple touchdown passes in five of those seven games. Since becoming the starter in Week 6, he ranks second in the ACC in passing yards (1,863) and third in completions (151) and passing touchdowns (14).
- Ja'Kyrian Turner delivered a dominant performance, rushing for 201 yards on 21 carries, including a game-clinching 56-yard touchdown. His 201 yards are the single-game high by any true freshman nationally this season, and he became the first Pitt running back to eclipse 200 yards in a game since Israel Abanikanda in 2022. Turner added four receptions for 12 yards to total 213 all-purpose yards. He led all ACC players last week in rushing yards, rushing average (9.6), and all-purpose yards, and his totals marked the highest single-game output by any ACC freshman this year. His 201 rushing yards are the most by a Pitt freshman since Qadree Ollison's 207 vs. Youngstown State in 2015 and the third-most by a Pitt freshman since at least 1995 (James Conner's 229 vs. Bowling Green). It also stands as the most by a Pitt freshman against a Power Four opponent.
- Pitt's three starting linebackers combined for 30 tackles, one sack, three tackles for loss, and a 100-yard interception return touchdown. Rasheem Biles led the unit with a career-high 15 tackles, including one TFL. Kyle Louis added 11 tackles, two TFLs, and a sack, while Braylan Lovelace contributed four tackles and a 100-yard pick-six that shifted momentum in the second half. Lovelace's return was Pitt's longest interception touchdown since 1908, when Homer Roe recorded a 105-yard pick-six against West Virginia, and it was the second interception return touchdown of his career.
- Kavir Bains-Marquez posted six tackles and an interception, securing picks in back-to-back games. It was his third interception of the season and the sixth of his career, and he was the only ACC defensive back last week to register at least six tackles and an interception.
