
Pitt Cruises To 100-65 Win Over Mountain Cats

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's basketball team used a 20-2 first half run to overcome an early nine-point deficit in a 100-65 win over Pitt-Johnstown Monday night at the Petersen Events Center. The victory concluded an unbeaten exhibition start to the 2025-26 campaign and was Pitt's 43rd consecutive exhibition win.
Senior Cameron Corhen led Pitt with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, adding five rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. Transfer sophomore Nojus Indrusaitis added 18 points off the bench, making 3-of-4 three-pointers, while freshman Omari Witherspoon tossed in 13 points and added a team-high five assists. Freshman Roman Siulepa and sophomore Brandin Cummings added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Pitt struggled in the early going, falling behind 23-14. But the Panthers went on a 20-2 run to take a lead it would never relinquish.
Pitt still led by just five points at the half, 47-42, but the Panthers went on a 22-3 run to pull to a 71-47 lead at the 13:45 minute mark in the second half, fueled by a stretch of 11 consecutive made field goal attempts.
For the game, Pitt shot 68 percent from the field and made 7-of-15 three-pointers (47 percent). After 13 first-half turnovers, the Panthers had just four over the final 20 minutes. The bench was effective for the second straight exhibition game, pouring in 40 points.
With the victory, Pitt improved to 37-0 in exhibition games inside the Peterson Events Center and Head Coach Jeff Capel improved to 9-0 in exhibition games leading the program.
For Pitt, the regular season begins in a week as the Panthers host Youngstown State Monday at 7 p.m. The Penguins went 21-13 a year ago and advanced to the Horizon League Tournament Championship.
