PITTSBURGH – After a record-breaking weekend, junior right side hitter Olivia Babcock has earned her fourth career AVCA National Player of the Week award, announced on Tuesday afternoon. She becomes just the second player to earn four weekly national awards in a career, tying Minnesota's Stephanie Samedy for the all-time mark. She averaged 7.95 points per set, 7.00 kills per set, 2.20 digs per set and 1.00 block per set in the wins over Notre Dame and No. 4 Louisville.
Babcock earns the honor after being named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, coming off a 70-kill weekend and a record-setting 41 kill performance against Louisville on Sunday. She recorded 29 kills, 14 digs, five blocks, two aces and an assist in the five-set victory against the Fighting Irish, marking her fifth 25+ kill match and eighth double-double of the season on Friday night. Babcock followed that up by setting the program's single match record with 41 kills on a .423 hitting clip against No. 4 Louisville on the road along with eight digs, five blocks and two aces. She is the only player in the NCAA to record at least 40 kills in a single match this season and the fourth to reach that milestone since 2019.
