The beginning of the first set was close, but the Panthers used a 7-3 run to hold a 12-7 lead. Four kills in the following stretch from Babcock, Blaire Bayless and Dagmar Mourits forced Florida State to take a timeout at 18-10. The Panthers held a 15-11 advantage at the media break and continued to hold it at 18-15 thanks to two kills from Bre Kelley and a Haiti Tautua'a ace to force a Seminole timeout. Babcock continued her dominance at the net and rattled off three kills as Florida State needed its final timeout, down 23-18. A Florida State service error and kill from middle blocker Bre Kelley secured the second set victory for the Panthers, 25-19.
